Description

Soil:

Spike speedwell is easily grown in average, medium-moisture, well-drained soil. Rich organic matter can be added to the soil to improve overall performance.

Light:

This perennial grows best in full sun (> 6 hours sun) or part sun (4-6 hours sun), with improved flower performance in full sun.

Water:

Spike speedwell has fairly average water needs. The best performance occurs with consistent, regular moisture and sharp soil drainage (particularly in winter).

Fertilizing:

Feed your spike speedwell plants with a general-purpose slow-release fertilizer before new growth begins in spring.

Winterizing:

Cut back to basal growth in late autumn.

Maintenance & Pruning:

Removing faded blooms encourages the flower spires to rebloom. Cutting back faded spikes to the new growth at their base improves their appearance.

Arrived healthy and ready to go

Arrived in good shape. I watered them and put them under lights while i decided where to put them. I have one each of the white, pink and bluish purple plants. I planted them about April 1 and they are bursting with flowers. I can’t wait til next year when they should be bigger plants.

New Plants

Items have been planted in new soil for about two weeks, and are growing well. I am very pleased.

The original order for 19 speedwell was wrong. They came up pink instead of blue. You kindly tried to resend another 19, but they also were the wrong color, and were very poorly thriving plants with mildew and brown leaves. You refunded my original charges which was so appreciated. So, my order was a mess, but you did all you could to rectify the situation. Still disappointed that I don’t say “aahhhh” when I look at the garden as planned.

Growth

They have not shown much growth since they were planted. Perhaps they are miniatures. Plants look healthy. We will have to see how they progress as the summer months arrive
