Discovered by Shawn Walls as a seedling in our hydrangea display bed in 1997 coming up between H. s. ’Rosalba’ and H.s. ’Blue Billow’. We assumed they were the parents. We didn’t really pay much attention to it but, wisely Shawn shared it with Flo at Specialty Ornamentals. She has grown it since and sold it wholesale to a widening, appreciative audience. Meanwhile, ours died from neglect. Time passed. Flo raved about it and brought us a replacement plant a few years ago. She’s right: it’s a keeper. Great, clean foliage of a lighter green than ’Blue Billow’ but with that same felty look. Lacecap flowers of a nice, rosy hue. She claims it is a re-bloomer which would be unique since lacecaps usually don’t do that. ’Twist & Shout’ being an exception. Zones 5-8.
